Ester is an executive coordinator and anthropologist. She has been working with indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon and Cerrado biomes since 2009. The main focus of her professional and academic career has been the study of indigenous territorialities and the defense of these peoples’ rights over their territories. Her experience includes working for the National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples (FUNAI), where she played a coordinating role in planning and carried out technical studies for the identification of indigenous lands. In addition, she has collaborated with various NGOs from multiple countries in the management and implementation of projects aimed at the environmental and territorial management of these lands, as well as the institutional strengthening of indigenous organizations. She recently worked as a technical consultant for the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB).
She is completing her doctorate in social anthropology at the University of Brasilia and has a BA and MA in anthropology with an emphasis on indigenous ethnology.
